Scout

Conceived by Commune Hotels & Resorts, one of the largest operators of boutique hotels in the United States, and designed by Olson Kundig Architects; Thompson Seattle is a contemporary urban hotel at the center of a spectacular Cascadian landscape. Thompson partnered with beloved local culinary visionary Josh Henderson and his Huxley Wallace Collective to elevate the typical hotel dining experience with Scout, a regionally inspired restaurant and bar.

Hum was charged with developing and designing a complete brand experience which celebrates northwest cuisine for both locals and visitors alike. In a nod to Seattle’s pioneering spirit, Hum imagined a dark yet enticing tale of Pacific Northwest Bounty. Scout’s identity features woodcut-inspired illustrations and decorative typography. Specialty treatments such as copper foiled endpapers evoke sophistication across all signage, menus, and collateral. The story unfolds with intriguing copy sprinkled across menus, coasters, and website.

After being named one of Zagats most highly anticipated Seattle restaurants, Scout opened its doors to rave reviews in June of 2016. Eater wrote that visitors will want to “pitch a tent and spend the night at Scout… a high end ode to woodsy charm.”
